The wild horses at Sand Wash Basin in Colorado roam freely across the rugged, vast landscape of the area. These horses, known as the Sand Wash Basin Herd, are part of a federally protected group living in the high desert, surrounded by mesas and sagebrush. They are a mix of Spanish, mustang, and other breeds, and are known for their striking beauty and strong, independent nature.
